After reading some of my earlier posts it becomes very clear I am a Democrat and strongly support Barack Obama. However, several of my peers think differently as they are Republicans. This doesn’t bother me because everyone is entitled to their own opinion and this is a free country. When they crack jokes about Obama I take it in stride and usually play along or come up with an equally as offensive joke about McCain. Lately, this innocent jokes have started turning into embarrassing remarks and in some cases intentional insults.

The next time someone jokes about Democrats not having brains, or calls Obama the “anti-christ” I am going to start taking jabs at them at their personal life.

They have crossed the line, now its my turn to push back and cross the other side of the line.

A few common questions I ask myself a lot are “Why do we have religion?”, “What idiot started religion?”, and “Why do people cling to religion like cling wrap?”.

I know ancient people had religion to supposedly help their crops and made many sacrifices. However, in today’s society what are the benefits of religion?

I want an honest answer not the “Jesus is our savior” bologna.  How does religion benefit me? I don’t have any crops nor do I believe in the heaven/hell concept. So why should I waste most of my life on edge worrying about offending this almighty power which may or may not even exist?

Many argued for a while that since they never found the body of Jesus this meant Jesus was real or something. I really don’t remember nor did I really care. However, after 10 seconds of using Google I realized they had found his body. (http://time-blog.com/middle_east/2007/02/jesus_tales_from_the_crypt.html) So maybe Jesus wasn’t the son of God after all…. ?

Maybe I’m missing something, or maybe the concept of a God is just as dumb as it sounds. If anyone has some scientific evidence do share. Also someone please explain the hype about religion, I just don’t get it.

Since I began school when I was 5 years old, up until last year there was nothing I wanted more than to succeed academically. However, over the past year I am starting to slack in my school work. Some of my teachers would say I’m lazy, but thats not necessarily true.

When it comes to homework I tend to rush through things and sometimes pass over important concepts. However, when it comes to programming I work around the clock on weekends trying to finish my next great iPhone app.

Maybe one would call it “selective laziness”. Or maybe I really just don’t care about school anymore.

I’ve come to a point where school is no longer at the top of my priority list. I’m beginning to focus my time researching politics, hydrogen fuel cells, and world issues. I spend my Friday nights working tirelessly in Xcode stoked about my iPhone app. Instead of focusing on my teachers I argue about politics and give away Obama stickers.

I try to care, really, really, hard, but to no avail. I realize theses next few years could determine the rest of my life, but still I find other things more important.

Maybe there is something wrong with me, but I no longer have passion for my school work. It just isn’t as important to me as the future of the economy or global warming.

Honestly, I have no idea what is going on, but I do know I’m tired of learning subjects that will be rendered useless after college. And with that I end my rant to continue studying for a Spanish quiz tomorrow.

P.S. Our school system is seriously effed up.

Religion and Politics don’t usually mix. In my opinion any group with a religious affiliation should try and avoiding endorsing any candidate or party.  If one church endorses a candidate it pressures those attending that church to support the same candidate.

What makes a church different than any other group?

What if the pastor of your church told you “Abortion is evil and against our religion. Oh, and by the way we are endorsing John McCain.”? In my opinion this not only pressures members of the church but also makes them feel that by not voting for John McCain they are committing some sort of sin.

Not only is it bad when a church practically tells its members who to vote for but its worse when a pastor posts their political views on a religious blog.

A person I know is posting his political views on a blog he deems as “Pastor Tony’s Place”. I think a couple of people have called him out on it in the comments. Here’s the URL if you disagree with his opinions. In one of the post he distorted one of Joe Biden’s quotes to make a point. He’s almost as bad as McCain himself.

During the course of the last few months I have gained a tremendous amount of respect for many people. However, at the same time I have singled out those who don’t have a backbone.

“Go with the flow” - 1. To not push against prevailing behavior/norms/attitudes, occassionally including bowing to peer pressure (Urban Dictionary).

As soon as that phrase leaves someone’s lips I instantly lose every ounce of respect for them. Going with the flow only makes you blend into the background. Nothing else. I don’t care what anyone says you can not agree 100% with your parents/friends/teachers/peers. You are unique, not some form of robot that was created with one specific task in mind.

If you have the same exact views as anyone, obviously something isn’t right.

1. You’ve been brainwashed by your parents since they day you left the hospital.

2. You “Go with the flow”.

If you seriously, think you’re being brainwashed please call social services ASAP. Otherwise you don’t have a backbone or you have some weird condition which you should also seek help ASAP.

Lately, I have become a very opinionated person and no longer care about pleasing others. Before I became involved in the 2008 Presidential Election I tried not to hurt the feelings of others by agreeing with them to some extent. However, lately I voice my opinion and I don’t really care if my peers like it or not.

When I think about debating, one person comes to mind. One of my friends is super conservative and currently, is boycotting McDonalds because they support homosexuals. Call me liberal, but I think this is the most ridiculous reason to boycott something and its almost to the point of discrimination.

Arguing doesn’t help, and he refuses to accept the fact that Obama could potentially save our economy and help millions of Americans. Instead he would rather vote for someone whose tax plan only helps big business (http://www.johnmccain.com/Issues/JobsforAmerica/taxes.htm).

Why you ask? Simply because Obama “kills babies”. Abortion is a huge issue and definitely, shouldn’t be abused. However we live in a free country and in my opinion abortion is just as much of a right as owning a gun.

What makes me infuriated are the yellow signs popping up all over town “Vote Pro-Life”. To be honest I want to swerve off the road and demolish them with my car.  If I didn’t think I would get fined or even arrested I would destroy them.
